Description This article describes the steps to identify the approver of a secret request in FortiPAM and the known issue with approval process through email.
Scope FortiPAM
Solution
  • To identify the approver of a secret request in FortiPAM, follow these steps:
  1. Go to Request Events -> Request Event Log.
  2. Check the Operation column for Approved access or Denied access.
  3. The name shown under the corresponding User column is the Approver name.

  • The above shows the approval is 'admin' and the requester is 'alice'. This is true for approval made through the FortiPAM portal.
  • However, for the approval process with email link approval, the username shown under the User column is not accurate.

not working approval.png

  • This is due to a known bug where the username for the approve action is wrongly shown as the user who made the request. In the above example, both approval and requester show as 'jackie' which is not true.
  • This issue is resolved in FortiPAM v1.6.1, v1.7.1, or v1.8.0.
