Description

This article describes the behavior where missing a drive when deploying FortiNAC on KVM or Hyper-V prevents CLI access.

Symptom: When connecting to the console, the login prompt appears. After entering the credentials as described in the KVM deployment guide, the login prompt returns without an error.

This behavior has been observed when the data disk does not get attached:

KVM: datadrive.qcow2
Hyper-V: datadrive.vhd

Scope FortiNAC-F Appliances deployed on KVM or Hyper-V.
Solution

Re-deploy the VM. Click on the appropriate link for instructions:

Import Image in the KVM Deployment Guide

Import Virtual Machine in the Hyper-V Installation Guide

Note:

The kvm.zip file contains a deployment script. This script may not work for all hypervisors due to additional security, potentially blocking the script from fully running.

In such cases, verify both drives have been added manually to the VM before booting.
