Description This article discusses the behavior where Principal thread count warning and critical alarms are generated unexpectedly. The default threshold value is too low and can trigger alarms without any observed performance-related symptoms.
Scope FortiNAC v9.x.
Solution

Set the threshold for the Principal thread count to a value more appropriate for the environment.

To determine what value would be considered 'high', first, create a baseline to identify a 'normal' thread count.

1) Log in to the Administration UI and locate the System Performance widget. If not listed, select Add Widget.
2) Principal Thread count is located at the bottom of the Table view.
3) CPU and Memory utilization percentages are located in the Chart view.
4) To change between views, select Settings from the widget's drop-down menu.

5) Review the thread count over a period of time in relation to the CPU and memory utilization. Threshold values can be adjusted as required.
