Description

This article describes that iOS Devices are not able to View Captive Portal Page Using Local DNS Suffix.

Scope

FortiNAC.

Solution

IOS devices perform a multicast DNS lookup for any name using a .local suffix.  This lookup will fail because the portal DNS does not support multicast queries.  This will prevent iOS devices from being able to bring up the Captive Portal Page. Go under Navigate to System > Settings > Security > Portal SSL Change the Fully-Qualified Host Name suffix to something other than .local.
