Description

This article describes the procedure when powering down appliances in a High Availability configuration. If Primary Servers are in control at the time of power down, this ensures the Primary Servers will be in control when they are powered up.

Solution

From the CLI:

  1. On all servers (starting with Primary Servers) run the command:

    shutdownNAC

  2. Wait 30 seconds.

  3. On all servers run:

    shutdownNAC -kill

  4. On all servers, run:

    halt

Power up appliances in the following order to ensure the Primary Server is in control:

  1. Primary Application Server.
  2. Primary Control Server.
  3. Secondary Application Server.
  4. Secondary Control Server.

For FortiNAC-F legacy, do the following on CLI:

execute service stop nac
execute shutdown

Power up the appliances in the following order:
  1. Primary Node.
  2. Secondary Node.
