Description
This article describes the Auto-Definition update feature, and how to configure and troubleshoot.
The auto-Definition updates feature contains support for the following:
- Information on the latest Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware definitions.
- Support for new versions of Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware.
- Support for new operating system versions.
- Any new Vendor OUIs released by the IEEE Standards Association.
- New or modified Custom Scan options.
Solution
1) Configure Auto-Definition settings. See Auto-definition updates in the appropriate Administration Guide.
2) Run the Auto-Definition Synchronizer.
Navigate to System -> Scheduler.
Select the Auto-Definition Synchronizer task and select Run Now.
3) Confirm the update completed by reviewing the Last Modified Date column.
The date displayed should be the last posting as defined by the Directory field in the Auto-Definitions settings.
Example:
. = Download the latest Auto-Definition updates (Default).
./week1 = Download updates that are one week old.
./week2 = Download updates that are two weeks old.
./week3 = Download updates that are three weeks old.
./week4 = Download updates that are four weeks old.
4) If the Last Modified Date column did not update, confirm a success is displayed when selecting the 'Test' button in the System Settings view.
If testing fails, check the following:
- User and Password fields are populated. See KB article 256338
- The directory Hostname is correct. See KB article 211622
- Protocol.
- Confirm appliance traffic is not being blocked by a firewall.
