Description

This article describes the Failover Process in FortiNAC-F v7.6 with N+M HA.

Scope

FortiNAC-F v7.6.

Solution

The health checks are performed by the Secondary Server (not the FortiNAC Manager). There are two ways the secondary CA checks the health status of the primary CA:

  1. Direct: The secondary CA will try to connect to a primary CA directly
  2. Indirect: If the Direct check failed, the secondary CA would try to connect to another primary CA and check the CA mentioned above from the other CA.

If both direct and indirect check fails, the secondary CA will decide that the connection to the primary CA has filed and start the failover process. The secondary server will start running, and its status on FortiNAC-M will change from 'Standby' to 'Promoted'.
