Description This article describes how to resolve an issue that occurs during registration of FortiManager where, upon logging into FortiManager, users experience a persistent message prompting for registration and SSO with FortiCare. This issue arises even when the FortiManager unit has already been registered with FortiCare, and it displays a message indicating that it is already registered. This message appears at every login, causing inconvenience.
Scope FortiManager.
Solution

Environment:

  • FortiManager version: v7.0.8-build0452 230606 (GA).
  • Deployment: Stand Alone.
  • Direct internet connectivity through a firewall.

Symptoms:

  1. Persistent registration and SSO prompt with FortiCare on every login to FortiManager.
  2. Attempts to register result in a message stating that the device is already registered:

Resolution:

  1. Log in to the FortiManager CLI (Command Line Interface).

  2. Prefer the online registration directly on the FortiManager FortiAnalyzer GUI page instead of the support portal asset page. If the license is generated on the asset page and loaded on the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer, it will be necessary to wait for the backed server to synch up.

  1. Wait for the server to Synchronize on the FDS backend server if the license file was uploaded from the asset portal page (about 10 minutes). If the issue persists, enter the following commands to configure the FortiManager update settings:

config fmupdate fds-setting
     set fortiguard-anycast enable
end

Troubleshooting:

Enter the following in the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer CLI:

get system status

exe tac report

diagnose fmupdate view-serverlist fds

diagnose fmupdate service-restart fds

diagnose fmupdate view-linkd-log fds

To register a FortiAnalyzer using a local FortiManager, see the documentation.

After executing the above commands, try to register the FortiManager unit again the next time the registration wizard pops up. After taking these steps, the registration and SSO prompt with FortiCare should no longer appear on every login to FortiManager.
