Description

This article describes how to troubleshoot issues related to VM license expiry for FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer Flex VM.

Scope

FortiManager Flex VM.

FortiAnalyzer Flex VM.

Solution

The user may encounter the following error message when attempting to access the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer Flex VM on the GUI.

 

VM License is expired

 

The same VM license expired status can also be seen from the following CLI command.

 

get system status

This generally happens when the previous license file token applied to the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer Flex VM is no longer valid. To resolve this, regenerate a new license file token from the FortiFlex portal and run the following CLI command in the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer Flex VM CLI console to activate the new license file token (reboot triggered).

execute vm-license <new license file token>

 

Once the FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer Flex VM has been rebooted, the user should be able to log in and regain access to the GUI successfully.
