Description

This article describes how to fix the 'Connection down' error that shows on the FortiManager for one or more FortiGate firewalls.

Scope FortiManager, FortiGate.
Solution

Usually, this problem occurs when the FortiOS version of the FortiGate and the software version of FortiManager are incompatible.

 

To fix the problem:

  1. Check the FortiOS version of the FortiGate and the software version of the FortiManager.
  2. Check the FortiManager compatibility to determine whether the FortiOS version of each FortiGate in use is compatible with the software version of FortiManager.


For example:

FortiOS v7.2.5 of the FortiGate is compatible only with FortiManager v7.2.3 and v7.4.0.

If FortiGate is running FortiOS v7.2.5 and the FortiManager is running on v7.2.2, the FortiManager will show the 'Connection down' error for that FortiGate. To fix it, either downgrade the FortiOS version of the FortiGate to 7v.2.4 or upgrade the FortiManager to v7.2.3 or v7.4.0.
