Description

This article describes some points to consider when decommissioning FortiManager.

Scope

FortiManager.

Solution

Points to consider when decommissioning FortiManager:

  • Take a backup of the FortiManager config before any change. Take note of the firmware version, admin credentials, and backup password.
  • Make sure FortiGate devices are deleted from FortiManager to clean up the central management config on FortiGate. If migrating to another FortiManager, follow this article: Technical Tip: Migrating FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer to a different platform.
  • If FortiManager was used as the FDS server, consider pointing FortiGate to the new FDS server.
  • If FortiManager was used as an SDN proxy for Fabric connectors, adjust the config accordingly on FortiGate. For reference, visit this document: Using FortiManager as a SDN proxy for AWS connectors.
