Description

This article describes why, for a managed device, the 'Security Update Status' widget in FortiManager Device Manager shows 'N/A'.

Scope FortiManager, FortiGate.
Solution

The Security Update Status widget by default is not enabled and can be enabled from Device Manager -> Device & Groups -> Select a Device -> Dashboard: Summary -> Select Add Widget -> Select the '+' icon besides the 'Security Update Status' to add the widget.

The current logic for showing the Security Update Status:

  1. FortiGate needs to use FortiManager as FortiGuard Server (FDS).
  2. Only if there is any object update, the FortiManager GUI will get the info to show it on the widget.
    • If FortiGate never updates from FortiManager (incase all DBs are already up to date), then the widget will not have any update objects version and shows 'N/A'.
