Description

This article describes how to resolve mismatch management IP error when installing VM license.

For this demonstration, a free trial license for FortiAnalyzer/FortiManager VM will be installed through the FortiAnalyzer GUI.

Solution

1) Install the VM and configure the management port to enable access. Ensure that the VM has Internet access.

2) If error below appears when trying to activate the license, make sure the IP Address bound to the license matched the IP Address that is configured in the VM.

3) Verify the IP Address that is bound to the license in the FortiCare support portal (support.fortinet.com). If it is different than what is currently configured in the VM, manually change the IP Address on the license. Note: This IP can be a "non reachable" one configured on any ports of the device (can be ip:1.2.3.4 for example configured in port 2 on the FAZ or FMG)

4) Upon changing the IP Address, re-download and upload the license into the VM on the FortiAnalyzer/FortiManager GUI.
