Description

This article describes how to perform FortiGate config backup to FortiManager.

Scope

FortiManager, FortiGate.

Solution
  1. Create a backup ADOM in FortiManager under System Settings -> ADOMs, and select Create New -> Mode -> Backup.

  1. Configure FortiManager central management from the local FortiGate under Security Fabric -> Fabric Connectors and select the Central Management card.

  2. Go to FortiManager and authorize the FortiGate to the backup ADOM.

  3. Once the FortiGate is fully authorized to back up the ADOM, there should be a notification on the top right section of the FortiGate showing that the FortiGate is now in configuration backup mode.

  4. Run the following CLI command in FortiGate to upload the config backup to FortiManager.

 

execute backup config management-station test

Retrieving full config.

From FortiManager v7.4.4 and v7.6.0 and upper versions, it is necessary to enable the 'fcp-cfg-service' using the following command on the FortiManager to upload FortiGate config backup:

 

config system global

    set fcp-cfg-service enable

end

 

  1. The uploaded FortiGate config backup will be shown as a revision in FortiManager. To view the revision history for the managed FortiGate in FortiManager, refer to the link below:
