- Starting from FortiManager v7.6.2, the user will be able to migrate the FortiManager license (serial number) for the managed FortiGate(s) via CLI from the current to the new serial number. This method applied to all licenses type of Trial, EVAL,Perpetual and Subscription based.
- In this demonstration, the user will be migrating the current FortiManager license (serial number) from FMG-VMTMXXXXXXX6 to FMGVMSTMXXXXXXX7. Currently, the FortiGate is registered and managed by FortiManager with serial number FMG-VMTMXXXXXXX6. This can be verified in the FortiGate with the following CLI.

Serial: FMG-VMTMXXXXXXX6
- In the FortiManager GUI -> Dashboard -> License Information -> Upload License, upload the new license file with the new serial number of FMGVMSTMXXXXXXX7. And, it will required a reboot. Once the FortiManager rebooted, double check the new serial number is reflected in the GUI.

Once the FortiGate has been successfully updated with the new FortiManager (FMGVMSTMXXXXXXX7), the new FortiManager serial number FMGVMSTMXXXXXXX7 will be fully reflected in the FortiGate. Run the following CLI command in FortiGate to verify the updated FortiManager serial number.
