Description This article describes how to create a Web URL filter (including wildcard) in FortiManager and use it in a Webfilter Profile.
Scope FortiManager 7.4.x.
Solution
  1. By default, the Web URL Filter does not show in FortiManager Policy & Objects. This can be enabled from Policy & Objects -> Security Profiles -> Tools -> Feature Visibility -> Enable 'Web URL Filter'.

  1. Select the three dots and, from the dropdown that appears, select the Web URL Filter.

  1. Now it shows as a separate tab in the Security Profiles. Select 'Create New' to create a URL filter.

  1. Give a name to the filter and, under the 'Web URL Filter Entry', select 'Create New' to create the URL entries:

  1. Enter the desired URL, select a Type and Action, and select OK to save.

  1. Once the entry has been created, it will show under the Web URL Filter Entry. Select OK to save.

  1. The newly created Web URL Filter can be seen:

  1. In order to use the Web URL Filter in a Webfilter Profile, follow these steps:

    From Policy & Objects -> Security Profiles -> Web Filter, either create a new Webfilter Profile or Edit an existing profile:

  1. Under the Static URL Filter -> Enable 'Web URL Filter' -> Select a URL Filter from the dropdown:

  1. The Web URL Filter Entry gets populated with the URLs from the Web URL Filter. Select OK to save.
