Description This article describes how to create an interface on FortiGate in a VDOM from FortiManager in Advanced ADOM mode
Scope FortiManager 6.2.8+ , 6.4,  7.0.
Solution

On FortiManager 6.2.8, in Advanced mode, when configuring a new interface on the FortiGate VDOM, the interface doesn't show up.

In the Management ADOM where FortiGate's root VDOM is the management VDOM, the below physical interfaces can be seen.

The goal is to create a VLAN interface in Inet-VDOM over "LAN" interface.

In the Inet-ADOM where Inet VDOM is present when creating a new interface, "LAN" interface is not listed as an option.

This is as expected. Below are the steps to create a new interface in the non-management VDOM.

1. Create an interface under the ADOM where the VDOM with the physical interface exists. In this example, "LAN" interface is in root VDOM and it is in Management-ADOM. Click OK and create the interface.

2. Once the interface is created, right-click on the interface and select  "Assign to VDOM" and choose the desired VDOM. Click OK.

This is the way to create and assign an interface on FortiManager 6.2.8+, 6.4 + and 7.0 +.
