Description This article describes how to run the FortiZTP process while the FortiSwitch is connected to FortiGate.
Scope FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager.
Solution

Follow the steps below to deploy a successful 'autolink' process when FortiSwitch is connected to FortiGate.

  1. Create a FortiGate model device using the FortiGate serial number.
    • Go to Device Manager -> Device & Groups -> Add Device -> Add Model Device -> Add serial number -> Enable 'Automatically Link to Real Device'.

  2. Go to FortiSwitch Manager -> Managed Fortiswitches -> Create new -> FortiSwitch.
    • Choose the FortiGate model added in step 1.
    • Choose FortiLink as the Device Interface.
    • Add the FortiSwitch serial number.
  3. Create port XX of FortiLink under Device Manager -> FortiGate -> Interface, then perform a Quick Install (Device DB) to the model device.

  4. The FortiSwitch status is online on FortiGate, and port XX is part of FortiLink.

  5. Trigger auto-link connection (either configure FortiManager IP on FortiGate fabric connector or power on the FortiGate).

Additional info: If the exact Serial Number of FortiSwitch is unknown, a wildcard FortiSwitch can be created manually or by using a fabric authorization template.
