Description This article describes what FortiManager normalized interface icons indicates.
Scope FortiManager.
Solution

In the FortiManager Device Database (Device Manager -> Device & Groups -> Managed FortiGate -> Select a FortiGate -> Network -> Interfaces) the interfaces with mapping always show the mapped normalized interface with the two-headed arrow icon.

In the ADOM Database (Policy & Objects -> Normalized Interfaces).
  • If a normalized interface only has 'Per-Platform Mapping' then it has the default ethernet socket icon.

  • If a normalized interface has 'Per-Device mapping' (or a combination of per-device and per-platform mapping) then it shows the two-headed arrow icon.

Note:

Make sure to have the correct mapping to avoid errors during policy installation.
The 'Per-Device Mapping' has precedence over 'Per-Platform Mapping', hence, selecting the right normalized interface mapping is crucial.

 

For Firewall objects, the icon differs depending on the 'Type' of the object.
If firewall objects have 'Per-Device Mapping', it always shows the two-headed arrow icon.
