Description This article describes how to troubleshoot sender alignment not detected for certain emails.
Scope FortiMail.
Solution

Sender Alignment features in the AntiSpam profile will compare the domain name of the sender email address in the message header 'From: or Reply-To' and SMTP envelope 'Mail From:' to look for the mismatch.

 

Below are some steps to check if there are some emails not detected by Sender Alignment but the Sender Alignment has been enabled in AntiSpam Profile.

 

  1. Check on the email in the History log shows the email has a mismatch at 'From' and 'Header From'.

  1. Check the email matches which Policy ID.

  2. Check that Sender Alignment is enabled on the AntiSpam Profile with the matching Policy ID.

  3. If All the above steps have been checked, but the email still has not been detected by Sender Alignment, check on the email header. From below sample, it show there are header 'List-Unsubscribe' in the email header that marked the email as a newsletter email.

By design, FortiMail will exempt it from Sender Alignment if the email marked as Newsletter email.
