Description
This article describes how to manually download and upgrade the FortiMail firmware image for a FortiMail unit.
Scope
FortiMail all versions.
Solution
- Log in to the Customer Service & Support web portal here, and select the 'Download' option, followed by 'Firmware Images'.

Select 'FortiMail' from the product selection dropdown list.

Select 'Download' to get the available firmware list.

Select the respective firmware version required, and select 'HTTPS' to starts download.

Save the required firmware image at the local storage.
Manual upgrade firmware image via web UI:
- Login to FortiMail via web UI.
- Browser to the below path:
Go to: System -> Maintenance -> Configuration.

Select 'Restore Firmware' to start the upgrade procedure.
Select the 'Restore Firmware' button to bring up the file window.
Select the firmware image file.
Select 'open' to select the respective firmware image file.
Select 'ok' to start the firmware upgrade procedure. -
Verify the FortiMail firmware version.
Go to: Dashboard -> Status -> System Information.
Manual upgrade firmware image via CLI:
- Login to FortiMail via SSH.
- Upload the respective firmware image file to a TFTP server.
- Run the command:
execute restore image tftp <filename> <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx> <Enter>|<password> - Example:
exec restore image tftp /FML_1000D-64-v60-build0148-FORTINET.out 10.127.1.38
This operation will replace the current firmware version!

Check image OK. - Verify the FortiMail firmware version.

To view the upgrade path that was used to reach the current firmware version on the specific device/VM, the command is diagnose system upgrade-path.
