Description

This article describes step-by-step how to back up and restore block and safe lists in FortiMail, regardless of whether they are System, Domain, or Personal lists.

Scope

FortiMail version 7.4.0 and later.

Solution

The FortiMail configuration file only includes the 'System' Block and Safe lists, not Domain or Personal lists. Therefore, one of the way to back up (and restore) these lists is through the GUI console. Keep in mind that in order to restore a list, that list must have been previously backed up.

These are the steps using the GUI:

  1. Go to Security -> Block/Safe List.

  1. To back up/restore 'System' Block/Safe lists:
  • On the 'System' tab, select the kind of list, whether 'Safe' or 'Block'.

  • Now, select 'Backup' or 'Restore', and a .csv file will be downloaded.

  1. To back up 'Domain' Block/Safe lists:
  • Select the 'Domain' tab.
