Technical Tip: How FortiMail trace logs can be read

Description	This article describes how FortiMail trace logs can be read for analysis.
Scope	All supported versions of FortiMail.
Solution	Obtain the trace log from the GUI at System -> Utility -> Trace log.                                                                       Select 'Download Trace Log...' and obtain a .log file as below:                                                                  The file is encrypted, and will look like this when opened:                                                          It is possible to zip the file by renaming it with a .zip extension and decompressing the file:                                                                    Note: WinRAR or a third-party zip program needs to be used to decompress the file; it is not possible to decompress the file with the Windows native zip after changing the extension to .zip.
