Description This article describes how to upgrade FortiIsolator-VM firmware.
Scope FortiIsolator-VM.
Solution

It is always recommended to review and read through the respective version's Release Notes and make sure to back up the FortiIsolator configuration before the upgrade activity.

Refer to the documentation at the end of this article for the Release Notes and the guide to backup the FortiIsolator configuration.

 

Note that the firmware image for all the VM versions of the FortiIsolator is the same which is using the 'FIS_VM_Upgrade' .out file.

 

Firmware image:

 

  1.  Download the respective firmware image at https://support.fortinet.com.

  1. Verify the firmware image checksum:

FortiIsolator-VM provides several options for firmware upgrades.

 

Firmware upgrade using GUI (Web).

 

  1. Go to System -> Upgrade and under the Upgrade by Web, select Browse... for Upload Image File and select the respective firmware image file.

  1. Select the Starts Hour accordingly. The immediate option will perform the upgrade immediately.
  2. Select Submit.
  3. A firmware upgrade confirmation popup will appear. Select OK to proceed.

  1. The firmware upload popup will appear.

  1. The FortiIsolator will reboot after the firmware upgrade successfully completed.

 

Firmware upgrade using CLI FTP.

 

  1. Login to the FortiIsolator CLI.
  2. Use the following CLI command:

 

system-upgrade ftp <path> <server> [:<port>] [<user>:<password>]

Note that for this article example, the firmware image was in the root directory of the FTP server and no user and password were required.

 

Firmware upgrade using CLI TFTP.

 

  1. Login to the FortiIsolator CLI.
  2. Use the following CLI command:

 

system-upgrade tftp <path> <server> [:<port>] [<user>:<password>]

Note that for this article example, the firmware image was in the root directory of the TFTP server and no user and password were required.
