Description This article describes an issue where a FortiGate device shows the error message 'Error cmdb save error' during the activation or import of physical FortiToken tokens.
Scope FortiGate v7.6.3, v7.6.4 and v7.6.5.
Solution

When importing or activating a physical FortiToken seed on a FortiGate device, if the FortiGate displays the error message 'Error' or 'cmdb save error', it is necessary to verify whether the issue matches the relevant logs shown below.

Troubleshooting commands to identify the issue:

 

# diagnose fortitoken info
# diagnose debug disable
# diagnose debug reset
# diagnose debug application forticldd 255
# diagnose debug enable

 

Therefore, this error does not indicate a defect with the newly purchased FortiToken hardware. Instead, it is a known issue in the FortiGate GUI affecting certain FortiOS versions.

Solution:
This issue has been identified and resolved in the following FortiOS versions:

  • v7.4.8(M)
  • v7.4.9(M) &
  • With upcoming FortiOS releases.
