Description

This article describes how to fix the error "'nother installation is in progress'.

Typically encountered during FortiClient installation or uninstallation. This issue is often caused by conflicts with other installation processes, particularly when an endpoint protection like SentinelOne is installed and active on the system.

Solution

 Refer to the screenshot below showing the error encountered during installation/uninstallation:

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

 

  1. Verify FortiClient Removal: Ensure the FC Removal Tool was used to uninstall FortiClient. If the issue persists, proceed with the next steps.
  2. Check for Endpoint Protection Software: Verify if any endpoint protection software, such as SentinelOne, is installed. This software could be interfering with the installation or uninstallation process.
  3. Disable SentinelOne: Open the SentinelOne Agent Interface from the system tray or by searching it from the installed applications. Navigate to the 'Settings' or 'Actions' menu and select Disable Protection. Might require administrative credentials or a passphrase. Reboot the system if required.
  4. Uninstall SentinelOne: If disabling protection does not resolve the issue, uninstall the SentinelOne agent completely using administrative privileges. Restart the system once the uninstallation is complete.

 

After uninstalling SentinelOne in this case, FortiClient was successfully installed/uninstalled.

 

Note:

  • Ensure to have administrative access to make necessary changes.
  • If any other endpoint protection software similar to SentinelOne is installed and running, follow the same steps to disable or uninstall it before attempting to install or uninstall FortiClient.
