Description This article describes the behavior observed in versions 7.4 and 7.6, where some ports report the link status as Up and the interface LED is green.
Scope FortiGate 400F/401F, FortiGate 600F/601F.
Solution

Based on the output below, it can be assumed that no SFP is plugged in, yet the link status is shown as Up. Additionally, on the FortiGate, the port's LED appears green even though nothing is connected to the port.

 

Note 1: In some cases, the port flaps instead to be permanently down.

 

Note 2: To reboot the device may return to normal, but after some time, the issue automatically reappears.

 The issue can be fixed by upgrading to the FortiOS versions 7.4.8 or 7.6.5.
