Description This article describes an issue when trying to rename an unauthorized managed FortiSwitch the following error 'Permission denied' is seen. However, the name is updated even though the error is displayed.
Scope FortiGate, FortiSwitch.
Solution

In some scenarios, when trying to update an unauthorized managed FortiSwitch an error 'Permission denied' is displayed. The name change will take effect though the error is displayed on the webpage.

Alternatively, renaming the FortiSwitch through the CLI will update the name without any error:

config switch-controller managed-switch
    edit <switch-serial-number>
        set name <rename>
    next

end

The Permission denied error seen in the GUI will be resolved in upcoming FortiOS releases.
