Description

This article describes how to troubleshoot an issue where navigation with Google Chrome fails, but navigation with other browsers works.

As of the time this article was written, the latest patch provided by Chrome enables the Secure DNS feature by default, which rejects the DNS connection to different URLs:
Google Chrome Version 124.0.6367.202.

Scope All FortiGate versions.
Solution

Users may encounter the following output in the Chrome browser:

To fix this issue, it is not necessary to apply any change to the policy or the active web profile. Follow these steps:

 

 

  1. Open the Chrome settings:

  1. Search Settings:

  1. Enter 'DNS' in the search bar and find the Security option:

  1. Select it, scroll the mouse down, and uncheck the 'Use secure DNS' tab.

After this, try navigation again.

 

The 'DNS_probe_finished_bad_secure_config' output on Chrome is related to this specific error. Other issues will require different solutions.
