Description | This article describes how to resolve the error 'Maximum number of monitored interfaces reached' that appears when trying to enable bandwidth-monitoring on a new interface. |
Scope | FortiGate. |
Solution |
When trying to add a new Interface Bandwidth widget on the Dashboard for a new interface, the following error might occur:
The port will be added on the Dashboard, but it will show like this:
When trying to enable the monitor-bandwidth setting under this interface via the CLI, the following message will appear:
Up to this point, the limit of monitored interfaces is 25, and any attempt to enable this option on new interfaces will not be taken into account.
To check which interfaces have this enabled, execute the following command:
show system interfaces | grep -f monitor-bandwidth
The 'set monitor-bandwidth' option might have been enabled by default on different interfaces, or after a firmware upgrade, so the limit has been reached, even if the change has not been made manually.
This option can be disabled on interfaces that are not intended to be monitored. After this step, when trying to re-enable it on the desired port, the issue will no longer be present.
The widget will be correctly added on the Dashboard as well:
In v7.4 however, the 25 interface limit does not seem to be the case anymore. More entries can be added on the Dashboard widget and the 'set monitor-bandwidth' option can be enabled on more than 25 interfaces without any issues. |
