Description This article describes how to resolve the 'Domain not available' error when trying to create a FortiDDNS entry.
Scope All FortiGate models (except model1000-series or higher or VMs).
Solution

When creating a FortiDDNS entry, it is possible to run into the error shown in the image below.

domain_not_avail.PNG

This error usually means that the DDNS domain entry already exists and another needs to be used.

In other cases, if this domain was in use on a device owned by the same organization and needs to be migrated to a new device, this can be done by opening a new ticket with Fortinet technical support and providing the following information:

  • Domain entry that needs to be migrated.
  • Old FortiGate serial number.
  • New FortiGate Serial Number.

After the ticket is picked up by a technical support engineer, the DDNS entry will be updated and confirmation will be provided on the ticket.
