Description This article explains the global level HA role in Multi-VDOM. In a multi-VDOM environment, FortiGate manage HA status at both the global and individual VDOM levels. At the global level, the global HA role indicates whether the entire FortiGate including all VDOMs operates in a synchronized manner. At the VDOM level, HA roles can be assigned to individual VDOMs, allowing for more granular control and efficient management of network resources.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

The global HA status is directly linked to the HA status of the management VDOM. When a VDOM is designated as the management VDOM, its HA status dictates the global HA status of the entire FortiGate.

  • Where the VDOM 'vd2' is designated as the management VDOM, the global HA role is subject to the HA status of the Management VDOM, 'vd2'.

  • If the primary of the VDOM 'vd2' takes the primary role, the global HA role becomes 'Primary'.

  • If the primary of the VDOM 'vd2' takes the secondary role, the global HA role becomes 'Secondary', accordingly.
