This article describes an issue where, when attempting to upgrade FortiGate 900G/901G devices from FortiOS 7.2.10/7.2.11 to FortiOS 7.4.7/7.4.8, the device may get stuck during the upgrade process.
Scope
FortiGate 900G / 901G.
Solution
During the firmware upgrade, the process appears to complete normally but halts at the following stage:
Firmware upgrade in progress ... Done.
The system is going down NOW !! Please stand by while rebooting the system. Restarting system FortiGate-901G (15:48-11.27.2024) ... np7 QOS type changed due to upgrade from 7.0/7.2. System will reboot to make some changes effective.
At this point, the device does not proceed further and remains stuck.
This behavior is currently under investigation and is expected to be resolved in the upcoming v7.4 release.
Currently, no permanent workaround is available. If the device becomes stuck, manual recovery may be required by booting from the backup firmware and configuration via console access.
