Solution	What ZebOS is: ZebOS is a virtual router that runs in the user space of the Linux kernel. ZebOS handles the RIB (Routing Information Base) functionality in FortiOS. Performs the same function as Zebra/Quagga perform on a Unix unit. It decides which one of the possibly overlapping routes  should actually be installed into the FIB. ZebOS was added to FortiOS in 2004 in FortiOS 2.80. Prior to that, the only dynamic routing was RIP. Why ZebOS is used: There are no freely available alternatives. Since then, ZebOS has been used by many companies. For example: F5, Citrix Netscaler, Huawei, Fortinet.
