Technical Tip: Unable to add FortiGate interface into the new software Switch

Description

Even after making sure no reference is associated with the port, adding it to the newly created software switch is not possible.

This article describes how to add a WAN port.

Solution

1. Make sure the WAN port has 'no reference' associated in this case.
   
   

2. Trying to add a WAN port is not an option. 

3. Notice that the interface is enabled for DHCP assignment.

  

4. Once it has been changed to Manual, it will be possible to add it into the software switch.

Note: If the interface is a different interface aside from 'wan' and the issue persists despite following the instructions, verify if the 'Create address object matching subnet' is disabled.
