Description This article describes how to transfer Data Loss Prevention (DLP) sensor profiles from one FortiGate to another using FortiManager. This process ensures consistency in DLP policies across multiple FortiGates.
Scope FortiManager, FortiGate
Solution
Transferring DLP sensor profiles from one FortiGate to another using FortiManager streamlines policy management and ensures consistent enforcement of DLP policies across devices.

Follow these steps to transfer DLP sensor profiles from one FortiGate to another using FortiManager:

  1. In the FortiManager GUI, navigate to the 'Policy & Objects' section. This is where to manage DLP sensor profiles.
  2. Under the 'Policy & Objects' section, select the FortiGate device from which you want to export DLP sensor profiles. This is the source FortiGate.
  3. Within the source, FortiGate's policy configuration, locate the DLP sensor profiles to transfer. These profiles are typically found under 'Security Profiles' or a similar category.
  4. Export the selected DLP sensor profiles to a file. This file will be used for importing the profiles into the target FortiGate.
  5. Under the "Policy & Objects" section, select the target FortiGate device to which you want to import the DLP sensor profiles. This is the destination FortiGate.
  6. Within the destination FortiGate's policy configuration, navigate to the location where you want to import the DLP sensor profiles. Typically, this will be under 'Security Profiles'.
  7. Import the DLP sensor profiles from the file you exported in Step 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the import process.
  8. After importing the DLP sensor profiles, review them to ensure that they were successfully transferred and that the settings match the requirements.
  9. Apply the imported DLP sensor profiles to the appropriate security policies on the target FortiGate. Ensure that the profiles are used for DLP inspection as needed.
  10. Once the DLP sensor profiles are applied, commit the changes on the target FortiGate to make them active.
