This article describes how to troubleshoot the issue with FortiGate Cloud logout from the FortiGate GUI with the message 'Timed out while getting FortiGate Cloud account status'.

When logging out from FortiGate Cloud on FortiGate GUI, the logout process does not complete, and the following error message is displayed:
Restarting the 'forticldd' process should fix this issue: Technical Tip: Find and restart/kill a process on a FortiGate by the process ID (PID) via pidof
diagnose sys kill 11 <pid>
If it does not fix the problem. Log in to the FortiGate Cloud account using the command below to restore the login details, and logging out will work without issue.
execute fortiguard-log login <forticare email ID> <password>
Note:
The logout button will be greyed out when the device is part of the Security Fabric (Root or Downstream). Making the FortiGate standalone will enable the logout button.
