Description

This article describes the situation where the FortiGate HA primary unit displays 'Status: Unknown' under System -> HA -> Status.

Scope

FortiGate v7.4.x.

Solution
  1. After changing FortiGate’s Group ID via GUI under  System -> HA, choose the Primary unit -> Edit -> High Availability -> Cluster Settings -> Group ID.

 Or change FortiGate’s Group ID via CLI command for both HA units.

  1. The FortiGate HA primary unit may display 'Status: Unknown' via the GUI under System -> HA -> Status.

For a workaround with a temporary fix:

Restart the hasync daemon on the secondary device:

 

FGT # fnsysctl killall hasync

 

Or reboot the secondary device:

 

FGT # execute reboot

 

For a permanent fix:
