Description |
This article describes the subdomains inherit the same category as the parent domain in Web Rating Override if not defined explicitly. |
Scope | All versions. |
Solution |
It’s expected behavior.
When a domain is defined in the Web Rating Override then all its subdomains inherit the same category unless it’s not explicitly defined on the web rating override.
Example:
Created a web rating override for the domain 'google.com'.
Logs for google and its subdomains like drive.google.com, mail.google.com, accounts.google.com, and play.google.com
Now, a subdomain of the domain can be allowed either by URL filter list in the Web Filter profile or by explicitly define the category of the subdomain.
The subdomain is explicitly defined in the web rating override.

Log:
There is nothing in the category column because it’s allowed by the URL filter of the web filter profile. |
