Description

The article describes how to generate results in the speed test widget in FortiAnalyzer Secure SD-WAN monitor, FortiView widget.

This article only discussed the use of the CLI speed test, which requires a license.

Scope FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer.
Solution

To be able to view the populated output of Secure SD-WAN monitor in FortiAnalyzer, the configuration must be done as shown in this article: Technical Tip: FortiView Secure SD-WAN Monitor

Once it is configured, the SD-WAN monitor widget will show the result. However, the speed test of the SD-WAN member is not automatically populated.

The widget will be populated when the speed test is done from the FortiGate.

There are a few ways to generate the speed test. This article only describes about CLI speed test, which requires a valid SD-WAN Network Monitor license

To generate a speed test using the CLI speed test, on FortiGate:

  1. Download the server list from FortiCloud:

execute speed-test-server download
Download completed.

  1. Verify the list:

execute speed-test-server list

  1. Run the speed test using the CLI command:

execute speed-test <interface> <server> {Auto | TCP | UDP}

diagnose netlink interface speed-test <interface> <server> {Auto | TCP | UDP}

  1. SD-WAN logs will be generated.

In FortiGate -> Log & Report -> System Event -> SD-WAN Events.

date=2025-11-17 time=10:01:46 eventtime=1763344906102560259 tz="+0800" logid="0113022938" type="event" subtype="sdwan" level="information" vd="root" logdesc="SD-WAN Bandwidth monitoring result" eventtype="WAN Speedtest Result" interface="port4" speedtestserver="FTNT_Global(154.52.16.34:5201)" mode="Auto" protocol="TCP" latency="8.54ms" upbandwidthmeasured="415598 kbps" downbandwidthmeasured="826680 kbps" timestamp="2025-11-17 10:01:46" msg="SD-WAN Bandwidth Monitoring Result"

  1. In FortiAnalyzer -> FortiView -> SD-WAN -> Secure SD-WAN Monitor -> Speed Test will be populated.
