This article describes the SSL VPN client MAC binding supported platforms.
Solution
SSL VPN client MAC binding supported feature was introduced to allow or deny particular units based on the MAC address defined in the SSL VPN web portal settings.
When a remote client attempts to log in to the portal, the FortiGate unit checks against the client’s MAC address to ensure that only a specific computer or device is connecting to the tunnel. This can ensure better security should a password be compromised.
The following are the supported platforms on which it can be applied.
- In v5.2, 5.4 and v5.6, Microsoft Windows is the only supported platform.
- In v6.0 and v6.2, Microsoft Windows and MAC OS are the only supported platforms.
The feature is not supported in any other peripheral devices or any other operating system.
Note:
When using the free version of FortiClient, use version 6.0.10 or below to access this feature. This feature requires a registered additional EMS license in v6.2 and above.
