Description

This article describes the SFP transceiver support on FortiGate-100F and 200F SFP+ slots.

Scope

For FortiGate-100F and 200F series.

Solution

Customers can use SFP transceivers on FortiGate-100F and 200F series’ SFP+ slots with the following caveats:

• In order for the 1G SFP to work, the speed needs to be set to '1000full' and not the default 'auto' mode.
• FN-TRAN-GC is not supported.

FN-TRAN-GC Specifications:

• Protocol Standard --> 1000Base-T.
• Maximum Transmission Distance--> 100m.
• Media --> Copper interface.
• Hot Plug --> Yes.

It is important to note that FN-TRAN-GC can negotiate down to 100 Mbps if the connected device supports it. Some models like the FortiGate-100F and FortiGate-200F (higher-end models compared to the FortiGate Rugged 70F 3G4G) may have compatibility issues.
