Description | This article describes how to resolve the issue when a FortiGate device that was mistakenly de-provisioned from FortiGate Cloud cannot be re-added. |
Scope | FortiGate Cloud. |
Solution |
The error observed during re-registration is: 'Failed to import the following key(s); <Device Key>: Invalid FortiCloud Key'.
This issue commonly occurs when the device was previously registered under a different region, for example US or GLOBAL, and the wrong region is being used during registration.
Devices registered under one region cannot be re-imported with a key from another region. To re-add the device to FortiGate Cloud under the correct region, the following CLI command can be used:
execute fortiguard-log login <email> <password> <domain> <----- The domain can be Global, US, or Europe.
After updating the region, re-register the device in FortiGate Cloud. The same FortiCloud account associated with the device key must be used.
If a FortiGate is mistakenly de-provisioned and the FortiCloud key shows as invalid, the original FortiGate Cloud region must be verified.
Note: After applying the necessary changes, performing a device restart can help ensure that the newly imported key is properly detected. |
