Technical Tip: Monitor Application Bandwidth Utilization

Description	The article describes how to monitor application bandwidth utilization.
Scope	FortiGate, FortiOS v7.4.X.
Solution	To use the FortiView Application monitor, the FortiGate needs to be set up to detect which application a user is trying to use. This is done by enabling 'Application Control' in the firewall policy that the user is traversing through. See more details on this behavior here: Top application: YouTube example. Select the FortiView Application to view the application that is passing through the FortiGate, and can identify the category of the application. For this example, let's focus on the YouTube application:                        Select the clock icon to view the application bytes in a 5-minute, 1-hour, or 24-hour time frame:                                                       Select the YouTube icon, then it will redirect to the page below that will show us the source IP by selecting the Source tab:                                                                   Select the Destination tab will show us the destination IP:                                                     Select the Policies tab will show the firewall policy, source interface, and destination interface that the traffic is passing:
