Description

This article describes the procedure to verify the integrity of a file downloaded from Fortinet to ensure that files are not corrupted and can securely be uploaded to the device.

Scope

FortiGate v7.0, v7.2, v7.4.

Solution

  1. Download the file from the support site. For a cloud image, the checksum is visible right under the download link. 'regular' is MD5, the other is SHA-512.

For a regular FortiGate image, select 'Checksum' next to the download link. There are two checksums visible: one is MD5, and the other is SHA-512.

  1. Open Windows command line (press 'Win + R' then type 'cmd') and execute the command 'certutil -hashfile <file path> <hash version>' and then enter:

'<hash version>' will be either 'sha512' or 'md5'. Either will work for the purposes of this article.
