Description The article describes how to view incoming and outgoing data of IPsec VPN from GUI.
Scope FortiGate v6.4 and onwards.
Solution

IPsec Monitor:

In the firmware version 6.2, it is necessary to go to Monitor -> IPsec Monitor to view the incoming and outgoing data via GUI as shown in the screenshot below.

From version 6.4, it can be viewed from VPN -> IPsec Tunnels, select the status of VPN.

For example, the 'Up' status is shown below.

It will redirect to another Web page showing the incoming and outgoing data columns as shown in the previous version.

VPN Event Logs:

To review historical information on incoming and outgoing data with cumulative totals, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Logs -> System Events -> VPN Events.
  2. In the filter, select VPN tunnel.
  3. Enter the IPSec Phase 1 name.


This will display the total data sent and received by the tunnel since its last establishment. A sample screenshot is provided below for reference.
