Description
This article describes how to update the GeoIP database on FortiGate equipment. The GeoIP database version does not always update when the following command is run:
execute update-now

Solution
- Check the current version of the GeoIP database:
diagnose autoupdate versions | grep -A7 Geo
IP Geography DB
---------
Version: 1.067
Contract Expiry Date: n/a
Last Update Date: Fri Oct 13 15:43:53 2017
- Update the GeoIP database
execute update-geo-ip
- Check the version:
diagnose autoupdate versions | grep -A7 Geo
IP Geography DB
---------
Version: 2.004
Contract Expiry Date: n/a
Last Update Date: Fri Oct 13 15:43:53 2017
Or use below command as well to check the version.
get sys auto-update versions | grep -iA6 geo
IP Geography DB
---------
Version: 3.00243
Contract Expiry Date: n/a
Last Updated using manual update on Tue Aug 20 16:51:00 2024
Last Update Attempt: Wed Aug 28 02:37:18 2024
If the database has not been updated, open a ticket with Fortinet support and attach the results of the following debug command:
diagnose debug application update -1
diagnose debug enable
execute update-geo-ip
When completed, clear the debugging with the following command:
diagnose debug disable
diagnose debug reset
