Description

This article describes how to change a VDOM name.

Scope

Any supported version of FortiGate.

Solution

Note: It is not possible to rename a VDOM from GUI or CLI. It must be changed via backup configuration and restoration.

To rename a VDOM using backup configuration, follow these steps:

Backup global configuration (NOT vdom configuration)

Next, open configuration in a text editor such as Notepad++ and replace the old VDOM name with a new VDOM name.

Save the configuration with the name change and restore the new configuration. The VDOM name will change to the new one:
