Description


This article explains how to download the Firmware of FortiGate manually into Fortinet's website and how to upload it to FortiGate.

 

Scope

 

Any supported version of FortiGate.

 

In this article, the FortiGate is on 6.0.5 build 0268, and the aim is to download Firmware 6.0.6 build 0272 and upload it to the unit.

 

Before downloading a firmware image, make sure to choose the correct upgrade firmware(s) by following the upgrade path dictated by the Fortinet upgrade tool:

Solution


Go to support.fortinet.com then login to the account.
Go to Support -> Firmware download.

Choose 'FortiGate' under 'Select Product', select the 'Download' Tab and choose the 6.00 folder.

Choose the 6.0, since in this example the goal is to download the 6.0.6 build 0272 Firmware Version.

On Folder 6.0, choose the 6.0.6 build 0272 Folder.
Next, look for the appropriate FortiGate model (In this case: 'FGT100D').
Download the .out file by selecting HTTPS.

Once downloaded, Access the FortiGate GUI under Systems –> Firmware and select Browse to upload the downloaded firmware.
 
 
Choose the Firmware that was downloaded and select the option 'Backup config and upgrade'. 
 
 
For new Firmware versions starting from 7.0 and above:
NoteThe next example is for the FWF80F Firmware image because FortiGate 100D in the First example cannot go above the FortiOS version 6.2.x.

In the GUI, Go to System -> Fabric Management and select the FortiGate to upgrade and select the Upgrade option on the top or 'right-click' on FortiGate and select the Upgrade option.

Select the File Upload option, and select Browse to upload the downloaded firmware.
