Technical Tip: How to limit the YouTube bandwidth usage and traffic priority

Description	This article describes how to limit YouTube bandwidth and change the traffic priority to low.
Scope	FortiGate.
Solution	It is necessary to create a new Traffic Shaper where it will define the 20 MB limit and change the YouTube priority to low. Access the FortiGate, navigate to Policy and Objects, and select Traffic Shaping.  Under the Traffic Shapers menu, select the option 'Create New'. Choose the type of shaper as 'Shared' since this will represent the total bandwidth available for YouTube. Specify the traffic priority and set the maximum bandwidth limit to 20 MB. To apply the traffic shaping policy to YouTube traffic, proceed with the following steps: Create a new Traffic Shaping Policy. Select the application as 'YouTube' in the policy settings. Note: An Application Control profile must be enabled in a firewall policy in order to match the selected application(s). Apply the previously created shaper to both directions, i.e., 'Shared Shaper' for upload speeds and 'Reverse Shaper' for download speeds.
